"My perspective, the truth": Melania Trump teases upcoming memoir in video

• "Writing this memoir has been a deeply personal and reflective journey for me," she said in the video.
• "As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts. I believe it is important to share my perspective, the truth."
• Trump has come out with three books since leaving office. Two are photo books and one revealed private letters received from big-name celebrities, politicians and business titans.

State of play: Melania Trump's interactions with prospective voters have been limited this campaign cycle— and mostly contained to written statement or mostly non-speaking appearances.

• On the Democratic side, spouses have been hitting the campaign trail, with second gentleman Doug Emhoff and Kamala Harris' VP nominee Gov. Tim Walz's spouse Gwen making frequent public appearances.
• She appeared during the final hours of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in July but did not speak, breaking from convention tradition of a nominee's spouse speaking at the convention. She gave speeches in both 2016 and 2020.
• After Trump was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt in July, the former first lady urged the country to "ascend above the hate" in a written statement.

Zoom out: Melania Trump kept a low profile during his presidency, and her elusiveness has become part of her public perception.

• First ladies Jill Biden and Michelle Obama were more politically involved while in the White House.
• One of Melania Trump's most criticized public appearances was in 2018 during Trump's presidency when she wore a jacket that read "I don't really care. Do U?" during a visit to an immigrant children's shelter in McAllen, Texas.
• She later said that the jacket was a message to media critics.

Between the lines: Melania Trump is unlikely to spend a majority of her time in Washington D.C. if Trump is elected to a second term, Axios' Mimi Montgmery previously reported.

• She's expected to split her time between Florida and New York.
• She's spent the past four years in Palm Beach, where her teenage son Barron Trump attended high school. He will be starting college at New York University this fall.
