Harris campaign says it has raised $540 million since launch

The big picture: Harris has seen a fundraising influx since she entered the race, giving her a cash cushion in the final months of a crunch-time campaign.

• Last month, the vice president's campaign brought in $204 million. That's four times more than what former President Trump's campaign raised in the same span, according to FEC filings.
• Trump and his affiliated committees reported raising $138.7 million in July — compared to $310 million from Harris' camp and its allies.

What they're saying: "Not only are our volunteers doing the work, but this week we saw unprecedented grassroots donations," O'Malley Dillon wrote. "Just before Vice President Harris' acceptance speech Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark."

Between the lines: A third of contributions during the convention week were from first-time contributors, about one-fifth of whom were young voters — a group that has provided Harris far more support than to President Biden before he left the race.
