Nevada judge tosses charges against 6 pro-Trump fake electors

• The judge also called off the trial scheduled for January.
• "We disagree with the judge's decision and will be appealing immediately," John Sadler, a spokesperson for the Nevada AG's office, told Axios in a statement.
• The development came in the same week the final three of 18 defendants in Arizona's fake electors case officially pleaded not guilty — two of several fake elector cases in swing states including Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia that have been advancing this year.

Between the lines: Judge Mary Kay Holthus ruled that prosecutors should not have filed the case in Clark County, which is heavily Democratic, but rather another jurisdiction where the false signing ceremony took place or from where relevant documents were mailed.

• The Nevada Independent reports that the statute of limitations in those jurisdictions could bar the state from re-filing there.

Zoom out: The only one of the fake elector cases to directly implicate former President Trump is in Georgia, where DA Fani Willis applied the state's racketeering law to lodge arguably the most potentially damaging of the criminal indictments he's faced.

• That case is currently on hold while a state appeals court reviews challenges to keeping Willis on the case after she faced accusations of having a conflict of interest.
