Atlanta Journal-Constitution subpoenaed over leaked call in Trump investigation

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has been subpoenaed by prosecutors in Fulton County, who have launched a criminal investigation into former President Trump's efforts to overturn the results of Georgia's 2020 elections.

Driving the news: The AJC reported that the grand jury is seeking to access the full recording of a call that took place in January 2021 between then-U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, Bobby Christine and his staff.

In the call, Christine said that he had dismissed two election fraud cases because they did not have enough evidence.

The big picture: A Georgia judge also ruled Friday that Republican lawmakers must testify before the grand jury handling the investigation, Axios' Emma Hurt reports.

The grand jury will not issue an indictment in the investigation, instead it will make recommendations regarding criminal prosecution for the consideration of the Fulton County district attorney.
Key Trump allies, including lawyer Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), have also been issued subpeonas.
