Snap hires Amazon's Darcie Henry as new chief human resources officer

Snap Inc. has hired Darcie Henry, a longtime Amazon executive, as chief human resources officer reporting to CEO Evan Spiegel, according to Snap.
Why it matters: She becomes the third C-suite executive that Snapchat has poached from Amazon.
- Snap hired Amazon's Chief Business Officer Jeremi Gorman and its Chief Financial Officer Derek Andersen from Amazon in 2018.
Details: Henry will lead Snap’s talent acquisition and management programs, as well as the companies' initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion, according to a press release shared with Axios. She will oversee other functions in support of hiring and retaining Snap talent.
- Henry previously served as Amazon’s VP of HR, Global Consumer and Operations. She was with Amazon since 1998, and played an integral role in helping shape the tech giant's HR infrastructure.
Between the lines: Snap's current chief people officer, Lara Sweet, decided to retire from the workforce in March. Sweet held several different roles in her time at Snap, including chief accounting officer and interim CFO.
The big picture: Several executives parted ways with Snap after its IPO in 2017. The company has rebuilt its C-suite in the years since, bringing on Gorman and Andersen, as well as Chief Marketing Officer Kenny Mitchell from McDonald's and Chief Communications Officer Julie Henderson from 21st Century Fox.
What to watch: Snapchat said on its most recent earnings call that it plans to hire rapidly as it expands its products.
