U.S. gymnastics great Simone Biles blows a kiss whilst watching the men's all-around Final on day five of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Ariake Gymnastics Centre in Japan on Wednesday. Photo: Jamie Squire/Getty Images

Simone Biles tweeted her thanks Wednesday for the support she's received after pulling out of two Olympic gymnastics events to focus on her mental health.

What she's saying: "the outpouring love & support I’ve received has made me realize I’m more than my accomplishments and gymnastics which I never truly believed before. 🤍" Biles said.

The big picture: Since the 24-year-old four-time Olympic gold medalist withdrew from this week's Tokyo Games women's gymnastics team finals and the all-around final, fellow gymnasts, other sports personalities, leading public figures and fans have rallied behind her.

What to watch: Biles has qualified for all four of next week's individual event finals, but has yet to decide whether to take part in them.

Go deeper: Simone Biles is still a winner

Editor's note: This article has been updated with more details on Biles' tweet and further context on the gymnastics events.

Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin condemned China's "aggressive" and "destabilizing" behavior at a press conference Thursday, as they inaugurated a major new trilateral security partnership with Australia and the U.K.

Why it matters: China was not explicitly mentioned in President Biden's announcement of the AUKUS alliance, through which the U.S. and the U.K. will help Australia acquire nuclear-powered submarines as part of a broader effort to ensure "peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific."
