Day 10 of the Tokyo Olympic Games saw Puerto Rico bag its first-ever track gold medal when Jasmine Camacho-Quinn beat American world record holder Kendra Harrison to win the women’s 100-meter hurdles Monday.

The big picture: There was better news for the U.S. in the basketball, where the women's team beat France 93-82. The U.S. is entering the medal round undefeated, Axios' Ina Fried reports from Tokyo. France still advanced to the quarterfinals.

President Biden welcomed the Milwaukee Bucks, the NBA's 2021 champion, at the White House for a ceremony Monday, a return for a tradition that was briefly halted during the Trump administration.

The intrigue: The Bucks are the first NBA champions to visit the White House since the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, just two days after former President Trump was elected.

Surprising pandemic side effect: Soaring trade deficits

Inflation and jobs may get all the economic headlines, but meanwhile a big shift is taking place in the underpinnings of the world economy: The U.S. trade deficit is soaring.

What's happening: Americans' spending on imported physical goods has gone through the roof, while exports are growing slowly, making the U.S. the world's consumer of last resort.

Third Way: "Big Lie" could become "Big Coup"

Graphic: Third Way

Third Way, the center-left think tank, is urging fellow Democrats to respond to the Capitol riot with "the size, scope, and seriousness of a presidential campaign," co-founder Matt Bennett tells me.

Driving the news: "For the first time in U.S. history, a party must mount two parallel presidential campaigns: one to win the election, and the other to prevent its theft," Bennett said, calling this "a Paul Revere moment."
