Today's newsletter is 927 words — a XXX minute read.
1 big thing: 🤘 AC/DC makes long-awaited return
Tens of thousands of people will take the highway to hell toward Huntington Bank Field tonight.
Why it matters: AC/DC's stadium gig is one of the biggest local concerts of the summer and the first time the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band has played Cleveland in nearly a decade.
State of play: It's the final North American stop on the AC/DC "Power Up Tour."
- Taylor Momsen's hard rock band The Pretty Reckless will serve as the opening act.
The intrigue: Tour reviews have praised AC/DC's energy, which is saying something for a band whose members are all past retirement age.
- The setlist stretches 21 songs, starting with "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)" and closing out with "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)" followed by fireworks.
Flashback: Despite hailing from Australia, AC/DC has made Cleveland a regular stop over the decades, starting with club shows in the late 1970s.
- Other memorable concerts include the 1979 World Series of Rock and back-to-back nights at Richfield Coliseum in 1988.
- AC/DC last played Cleveland on the "Rock or Bust World Tour" at Rocket Arena in 2016 with Axl Rose as the fill-in frontman.
If you go: Tonight's show is nearly sold out on Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $131.
- Resale seats are available for much less on sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats.
Between the lines: The Rock Hall is hosting an AC/DC Fan Day, featuring special artifacts and live music starting at 10am.
- The event is free with admission.
2. 🕺🏻 MGK's viral "Cliché"
Machine Gun Kelly is making his case for the song of the summer.
Why it matters: The Cleveland entertainer's latest single, "Cliché," made the cover of Spotify's New Music Friday playlist last week and has launched a social media trend.
- It could soon join songs like "Bad Things" and "My Ex's Best Friend" as one of MGK's biggest hits to date.
The intrigue: "Cliché" takes its inspiration from the glory days of MTV's "Total Request Live."
- The music video is loaded with intentionally corny lyrics, boy band dance moves and a closing rain sequence the "Step Up" movie franchise would be proud of.
What they're saying: "If 'TRL' in the nineties was still going … it would be up there," Machine Gun Kelly said while walking the red carpet at Sunday's American Music Awards.
- "I love being able to bring something nostalgic to the current state of music."
State of play: The video has spawned a dance craze on TikTok.
- Some clips of users copying its choreography have generated thousands of likes.
What's next: "Cliché" is the lead single from MGK's seventh studio album expected later this year.
- The 35-year-old, who just had a baby with actress Megan Fox, will continue his nostalgia trip by performing at the Warped Tour 30th anniversary shows in Washington, D.C. next month and Orlando in November.

4. ⛳ Memorial tourney celebrates 50 years in Columbus
The world's best golfers are in Ohio this week for the 50th Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, just north of Columbus.
Why it matters: It's the lone Ohio stop on the PGA Tour and one of eight "Signature Events" — marquee tournaments featuring the biggest prizes and most exclusive fields.
Hitting the links: No. 1 ranked Scottie Scheffler will defend his title against an elite field that includes eight of the world's top 10, including Xander Schauffele and previous winner Hideki Matsuyama.
- No. 2 Rory McIlroy, fresh off his Masters victory, will miss the tournament for the first time since 2017.

If you go: The tournament runs May 29-June 1. Verified resale tickets are available for each of the four days.
Closer to home, the Kaulig Companies Championship — a Major tournament on the PGA Champions Tour — comes to Akron's Firestone Country Club June 19-22.
5. Golf is booming in Cleveland
Cleveland had the highest year-over-year change in total golf rounds played in 2024, according to National Golf Foundation research.
By the numbers: Among approximately 50 metro areas actively tracked by the nonprofit trade association, Cleveland was in first place by a long shot, with an increase of 13%.
- That comes on the heels of 2023, when total rounds grew in Cleveland by 8%.
What they're saying: This was in part due to Northeast Ohio's favorable weather last year and an extended golf season, per NFG editorial director Erik Matuszewski.
- "Ohio in 2024 had the warmest year on record per the NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, and slightly below average precipitation," he tells Axios.
The big picture: Golf exploded in popularity during the pandemic as the official sport of social distancing and continued to boom in the era of remote work.
⛳️ Sam's thought bubble: Prices have risen as weekend tee times become harder to reserve, but 18 holes at a public course in Northeast Ohio is still a bargain compared to other major metros.
