1 big thing: π§ββοΈ Sound healing in Plaza Midwood
Casa Gaia, a sound healing studio, will open in Plaza Midwood this summer.
Why it matters: Founder Sofia Paloma describes Casa Gaia as Charlotte's first dedicated sound healing studio and believes it may be the first of its kind in North Carolina.
Zoom in: While many wellness studios offer occasional sound baths or healing sessions, Casa Gaia is built around sound healing first.
What they're saying: After navigating physical disability and grief, Paloma says sound healing and meditation helped her rebuild her life. She wanted to create a permanent home for the practices and community that supported her.
- "I've overcome my own personal struggles through this work, and it's created so much abundance in my life," Paloma said. "I know what this work can do."
What to expect: The studio, located in the former Pranayama House Healing Center space, will focus on daily sound healing sessions where facilitators will use a range of instruments from crystals to Tibetan bowls to help support their physical and emotional health.
The vibe: The 1,300-square-foot space blends Moroccan, Indian and Egyptian-inspired design with handcrafted details, creating an immersive, sound-first experience that feels more like a cozy global lounge than a traditional studio.

3. πΈ No Proof and all vibes in South End
A new cocktail lounge called No Proof opens in South End today.
Why it matters: Owner AJ Jones designed No Proof to cater to different kinds of nights out, with one side built for a high-energy crowd and the other for a more relaxed evening.
What they're saying: Jones hopes the concept brings the kind of nightlife variety he has seen in larger cities to Charlotte.
- "In bigger cities β D.C., Miami, New York β you can find the high-energy party and the more laid-back cocktail spot often in the same neighborhood," Jones said. "With No Proof, we're trying to bring both of those vibes under one roof in Charlotte and invite everybody into that experience."
What to expect: The cocktail menu features about six drinks that play on the No Proof theme, including names like Burn After Reading and Smoke and Mirrors.
- There's also The Fifth Amendment, a bartender's-choice drink where they will create a custom cocktail based on your preferred liquor.
Stop by: Find No Proof at 201 W Worthington Ave.. It's open 5pm-2am Tuesday through Friday and 2pm-2am Saturday and Sunday. Closed Mondays.
4. πΌ 1 new garden to go
Tuckaseegee Arboretum & Gardens' grand opening is today.
What to expect: The celebration is free and open to the public. There will be music, games, food and drinks, plus garden tours from 9am until noon.
- Thew new green space is at the City of Charlotte Landscape Management in west Charlotte, which manages and maintains the roughly 3-acre space (the size includes the parking lot).
- The arboretum and demonstration garden area houses a pollinator garden, 25+ species of trees and shrubs, along with 35+ species of grasses and perennials in the gardens.
- TAG will ultimately offer hands-on workshops, neighborhood meetings and pop-up farmers market, a city spokesperson tells Axios.
Stop by: 701 Tuckaseegee Road. The arboretum is open to the public and free to visit. Hours are Monday-Friday from 7 am until 4pm. Public parking is available on-site.
