Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was hit with four fines on Monday for failing to comply with House rules on masks.

By the numbers: House members are fined $500 the first time they break the House pandemic rule and $2,500 is taken from their $174,000 congressional pay each time they commit the offense thereafter — and Greene has been cited at least seven times for this, per the Washington Post.

Details: The House Ethics Committee issued a notice on Monday outlining Greene's fines for three consecutive days when she breached the congressional rule.

  • Greene, who lost an appeal for an earlier mask violation, did not appeal the fines, according to the panel.

The big picture: Capitol physician Brian Monahan announced in July that the House was reimposing its indoor mask requirement for meetings in enclosed spaces, as the Delta variant surged across the U.S.

What she's saying: "I will continue my stand on the House floor against authoritarian Democrat mandates," Greene said in a statement to news outlets.

Progressives call for swift Boebert punishment

House progressives are seeking concrete punishment for Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) as retribution for her incendiary remarks against one of their own, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

Why it matters: House Democratic leaders continue to consider their options amid the latest ugly incident in their chamber. Republicans are already threatening retaliation after Democrats stripped Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) of her committee assignments and censured Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.).

Minnesotans urged to mask up and seek boosters amid Omicron concerns

Top state health officials are urging Minnesotans to mask up and get a vaccine or booster if they haven't yet amid growing concerns about the Omicron variant.

State of play: While the new variant hasn't been detected here yet, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed on Wednesday the first known U.S. case was identified in a San Francisco resident who tested positive on Nov. 28.

Massage, facial, pedicure... intravenous drip?

IV drips — the kind you might get if you're rushed to the hospital — are trending as a spa treatment, thanks in part to endorsements by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Madonna.

Why it matters: Like other "wellness" trends with a whiff of medical imprimatur, IV nutrient drips can be harmless or mildly restorative — or go awry, particularly in the wrong hands.
