Arlington's new immersive experience combines murder mystery and escape room

• The group hosts events that are a mashup of a murder mystery dinner theater meets an escape room meets a group-style board game — aka "living fiction experiences," says the other co-founder Hannah Marcley.
• The closest comparison? Jubensha, a live action role playing murder mystery game popular in China, say the siblings.

State of play: The duo is currently running a show called "It Will Take Us," which they wrote.

• Participants are immersed in a storyline following a village that must relocate to a remote island after a mysterious illness begins claiming the community.

What they're saying: "We're looking to build community with interested, like-minded people that want to do fun things," says Sells.

• Case in point: After a recent event, all the attendees exchanged numbers and started a group chat, the duo says.

What we're watching: The Gaslight is currently popping up at Arlington's Lyon Village Community House, but hopes they'll have a permanent spot sometime early next year.

If you go: Tickets are priced at a sliding scale depending on which date you select, with the group charging more as they continue to work out the kinks.
