Georgetown may be D.C.'s ultimate little-treat neighborhood.
Why it matters: The nabe's snacking scene rivals its buzzy new restaurants. You can graze your way through stroopwafels and hand rolls, babka and breakfast burritos — plus caviar happy hour if your little treat has a big budget.
Driving the news: Dutch Darlings opens today at 10am, specializing in fresh, gooey stroopwafels.
- The father-daughter business, led by Hans and Maaike Ravesteijn, got its start at the Del Ray farmers market before moving into its first home.
- The tiny shop makes every stroopwafel by hand each morning, from the dough to the caramel-y syrup.
- The menu includes classic, half-chocolate and rotating specialty stroopwafels ($6+), plus coffee sweetened with housemade stroopwafel syrup.
Pro tip: Go early. Dutch Darlings expects to sell out, though Dutch sweets like licorice will stay stocked.
Now, if you're craving…

🍪 More sweets!
- Call Your Mother: Bagels get all the hype, but we adore the chocolate babka muffins.
- Yala: Scoop up Greek-style ice cream in flavors like pistachio and kataifi.
- DC Tasty Corner: The family-run cafe is a sleeper for savory empanadas — but we're eyeing the apple and banana-Nutella versions.
- Baked & Wired: Skip the infamous Georgetown Cupcake line for this neighborhood fave's generously frosted cupcakes and bars.
- Levain: The massive cookies are justly famous, but don't sleep on the pillowy chocolate brioche.

🌮 Something savory
- Yellow Cafe: Can't wait until lunchtime pita-o'clock? Go early for a za'atar egg croissant or newer breakfast spreads like smoked trout labneh on "urfa-thing" bagels.
- Monstera Burrito: Find the cult-favorite breakfast burritos — stuffed San Diego-style with eggs, beans, cheese, peppers, onions and fries — inside Grace Street Collective.
- Caspian Crust: Warm up with flaky börek and Turkish coffee.
- Delhi Belly: Pop crispy, tangy dahi puri at the new Indian street-food spot.
- Flavor Hive: Bring your own bag of chips for a portable walking taco loaded with the food truck-turned-restaurant's fusion flavors.
- Chaia: Take a seasonal taco canal-side for a nibble (mushroom-feta FTW), or try the new aji-braised chicken.
- Flor Coffee + Books: Pair an Argentine empanada with some novel browsing.
- Two Nine: The alleyway omakase spot's new lunch service lets you pop in for temaki hand rolls or Japanese curry rice — no tasting menu required.
💸 Make it a big little treat: Embrace Georgetown's caviar habit at Apéro's Caviar Hour (3-5pm and 9-10pm, Tues-Thurs), where sustainable Osetra with all the fixings goes for $35, plus $10 bubbles.
- Or hit the newly revamped Bourbon Steak lounge for caviar-topped popcorn chicken with lemon pepper and ranch crème fraîche ($67+). Little treat, big flex.
Between the lines: G-town is also a magnet for line-wooing, snack-ready chains, with new locations of The Salty Donut, Pop Up Bagels and Springbone Kitchen's portable broths.
The bottom line: Come hungry-ish. In Georgetown, you don't need dinner plans — just a snack crawl.
