Soupergirl founder Sara Polon launches D.C. one-woman show

What they’re saying: Polon is purposefully coy about the exact life events her show features — no spoilers! But it focuses on her running a business while her personal life and her relationship “blew up in such a comically bad way.”

• She felt like she was living a double life — presenting as OK, while struggling inwardly — but once she started opening up to people, she realized she wasn’t alone in feeling that way.
• “I'm giving people permission to laugh at me and with me, and therefore maybe at themselves, and realize we actually have a community,” Polon tells Axios.

Zoom in: Polon has a background in standup and sketch comedy, but says the show is structured more like storytelling event series The Moth, with both funny and dark moments.

The intrigue: One very important question for Polon: If her show was a type of soup, what kind would it be?

• “A spicy tomato gazpacho,” she says — refreshing, but also fiery and unexpected.
