As "Arc de Trump" advances, this D.C. official wants more arches

The intrigue: Ahead of the Commission of Fine Arts' vote, the Washington Post published an interview with its chairman, a longtime classical monument enthusiast who has personally wanted to build an arch in Washington since 2000.

• Cook thinks two new arches should be built by both the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and the John Philip Sousa Bridge.
• Complimenting the would-be "Arc de Trump" near Memorial Bridge, Cook tells the Post the trio of arches would "complete the L'Enfant plan."

What we're watching: Cook's arch-maxxing ambitions are TBD. But when his commission gave concept approval to Trump's arch, some commissioners had a few suggestions, like removing the Statue of Liberty-like ornament at the top that adds roughly 80 feet in height.

• The project is expected to return for final approval. It'll soon be filed with the National Capital Planning Commission, another Trump-aligned panel, that will review it.
