Celebrity chef Carla Hall is bringing her Southern charm to Capitol Hill with the opening of bumblebirds, a fast-casual "pop-in" spot for fried chicken, sweet treats and cocktails in the former Good Stuff Eatery space.
- Hall — an effusive television personality and longtime DMV resident — is partnering with D.C.'s family-run Sunnyside group (Santa Rosa, We, the Pizza) on a comfort food concept that's nostalgic and wallet-friendly.
The vibe: Bright and homey. Hall designed the space, complete with her own paper quilt art.
On the menu: Organic chicken two ways — fried or grilled — tucked into southern biscuits or buttery brioche sandwiches (GF available).
- Snacks like crispy nugs and grazing boards with pimento, ham and pickles.
- A choose-your-own-adventure iced tea and lemonade bar.
- Southern-inspired cocktails by bar star Andra "AJ" Johnson.

If you go: 303 Pennsylvania Ave. SE. A grand opening party happens Saturday (March 14) at 11am with a free sandwich or nugs for the first 100 customers.
