State of play: There are several trots taking place across Washington on Thanksgiving Day:

🦃 America's Trot for Hunger: Head to D.C.'s Freedom Plaza for a 5K (or, for lil' turkeys, a one-miler). Both benefit So Others Might Eat (5K registration $65; one-miler, $15).

• After, there will be a pet costume contest for best turkey outfit (registration $25).

🦃 Alexandria Turkey Trot: Jog through Del Ray during this 5-mile race that that sees thousands of runners each year. (Registration fees vary.)

• Participants should bring two non-perishable food items to donate to Alive!.

🦃 Arlington Turkey Trot: This 5K race kicks off in front of Lyon Park Community Center and benefits area nonprofits. (Adult registration $50; kids, $25; kids 6 and under, free)

🦃 Fairfax Turkey Trot: Walk or run four miles through Fairfax's Mantua community, with proceeds going toward Britepaths. (Registration $40)

🦃 Turkey Chase Charity Race: Tackle either a 10K race or a two-mile walk-or-run through Bethesda, benefitting the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club. (Registration varies.)
