The swanky Ned's Club in Washington, D.C. has opened right next to the White House.
Why it matters: The club is from the creators of Soho House, and it's the fourth outpost of their extra-premium social club.
The vibe: Old Washington charm with a dash of Roaring Twenties glamor.
- There are several dining and bar spaces, including private meeting space, spread over three floors.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served — and the club can stay open until 3am, aiming to offer a late-night exclusive option for the city.
- Heads up for our chronically-online D.C. people: No laptops after 5pm. Instead, you can listen to the evening musical programming seven days a week.
State of play: It costs $5,000 to sign up and $5,000 each year — but you'll have to wait.
- The club already has its first 1,000 members, and several hundred more are now on a waitlist, says Gareth Banner, group managing director of The Ned.
- Membership also gets you into clubs in London, New York and Doha.

Zoom in: David Testa, who joins from José Andrés' The Bazaar, is executive chef. Leading the bar is Vlad Novikov, formerly of Riggs Hotel's Silver Lyan bar.
- The Gallery room will be open all day for dining, serving Italian American dishes.
- The Founders Dining Room is a grill room with an international menu, with decor inspired by the Kennedy era.
- At the rooftop, pan-Asian fare will be served at Kaia, including sushi and robata-grilled meats. The top floor also includes another cocktail bar and an indoor and outdoor terrace with views of the White House and downtown.
- The Library room offers members a workspace by day, becoming a cocktail and champagne bar by night.

Between the lines: Members are currently 90% from the DMV and the rest are people who frequent the city.
