Crowds and road closures expected ahead of Harris' D.C. speech

• The event comes a week before Election Day as Harris and Trump race to the finish line in a neck-and-neck race.

State of play: About 20,000 people are expected to attend Harris' speech, scheduled to kick off around 7pm Tuesday. The area will open to the public at 3pm.

• While the event will take place on the Ellipse between E Street, Constitution Avenue, 17th Street and 15th Street NW, overflow bystanders will be directed to the northeast portion of the Mall, near the Washington Monument.
• The permit for the event does not allow a march from the Ellipse to another spot.

Zoom in: Prepare for downtown traffic and detours. Roads surrounding the Ellipse, White House and Washington Monument will be closed to cars from noon-10pm Tuesday, per D.C. police.

• No parking will be allowed on the stretches of 17th Street, Constitution Avenue and 15th Street NW bordering the White House and Ellipse from 6am-10pm.
