The 2024 RAMMY Awards, D.C.'s annual hospitality industry honors, just announced winners for New Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, and more.
Why it matters: The RAMMYs are like a local version of the James Beard Awards, highlighting some of the best dining and drinking spots in the city alongside their owners and star employees.
Between the lines: Winners in most categories are selected by an anonymous panel of judges in the food media and hospitality industry, and must be dues-paying members of the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (which is why you may not see some notable names).
- The exceptions are publicly voted categories like "Best Brunch" or "Hottest Sandwich Spot," marked with an asterisk below.
The intrigue: Perry's chef Masako Morishita continues her winning streak, snagging Rising Star Chef of the Year after clinching the Beard Award for rising talents.
- Peruvian tasting room Causa in Blagden Alley also garnered yet another accolade, winning for fine dining.
- Anju chef Angel Barreto, who was recently up for two James Beard Awards, was honored with Chef of the Year.
