D.C. will channel Monaco on Saturday when a Red Bull Formula One car speeds down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Why it matters: Formula One has seen its popularity in America grow over the last few years, largely due to the Netflix docuseries "Drive to Survive."

State of play: This isn't a race: It's Red Bull's first promotional showcase in D.C., meaning Grand Prix-winning driver David Coulthard will get behind the wheel to show off an RB7 racing car that won the 2011 Formula One Title.

  • Street freestyle motorcyclist Aaron Colton and former F1 driver Scott Speed will also appear.

Zoom in: The exhibition will take place on Pennsylvania Avenue between Third and Seventh streets NW on Saturday afternoon.

  • The fan zone opens at 1:30pm, while the showrun lasts from 4pm to 6pm and is free.
  • Stretches of Pennsylvania Avenue and the surrounding streets are or will be closed to traffic throughout the weekend.

Plus: It'll be loud — bring ear protection! And no pets.
