Wolves trade fan favorite Naz Reid for LaMelo Ball

Why it matters: Timberwolves basketball exec Tim Connelly has once again shaken up the roster, acquiring LaMelo Ball from Charlotte in exchange for Reid plus a future first-round draft pick and some other draft capital.

Between the lines: This is a high risk, high reward move.

• Ball is extremely gifted and his playmaking can take some of the pressure off Anthony Edwards in the backcourt. At his best, he's an All-Star.

Yes, but: Ball has also missed significant time with injuries in three of the last four seasons.

• It remains to be seen if he's up for the challenge of playoff basketball, which he has not played in his six NBA seasons.

What we're watching: It seems like the Wolves have one more move to make: Finding a power forward to replace Reid and Julius Randle, whom the team dumped earlier this week.

The bottom line: Connelly had better be right about this, because if not he's traded away almost all of the team's assets and a fan favorite.
