Lynx's Collier is WNBA's best at All-Star break

Caitlin Clark may be the face of the WNBA, but she's playing in Napheesa Collier's league.

Why it matters: Saturday's All-Star Game is a matchup of Team Clark vs. Team Collier, as the two earned captain honors by receiving the most fan votes.

Unfortunately, Clark announced yesterday she won't play due to an injury she suffered this week.

Yes, but: Nobody in the W is playing better than Collier. The Lynx forward is leading the league in scoring (23.2 points per game) and ranks in the top five in steals and blocks, plus she's a top 10 rebounder.

Most importantly, Minnesota's 20-4 record is easily the best in the league and the Lynx are unbeaten at home.

The intrigue: Collier selected Hopkins alum Paige Bueckers as her All-Star teammate, so it should be a treat for Minnesotans to watch the two play together.

Collier is the heavy betting favorite to win the regular season MVP award and Bueckers, who is averaging 18.4 points a game, has basically wrapped up rookie of the year honors, per Vegas odds.

What's ahead: With 20 games to go, the Lynx will be looking to lock up the No. 1 overall seed for home court advantage in the playoffs that start in mid-September.

Minnesota came up one win short of a championship last fall.
