Expect to hear the names Liam, Henry, Charlotte and Evelyn ring across Minnesota playgrounds in the coming years.
Why it matters: Those are some of the state's most popular baby names of 2024, according to Social Security Administration data released Thursday.
What's new: Liam overtook Henry β 2023's most popular boy's name β and Theodore to claim Minnesota's No. 1 spot, and Noah knocked out William to round out the top 5.
- Charlotte was Minnesota's trendiest girls' name for the third consecutive year. The rest of the top five stayed the same as 2023, just in a slightly different order.
State of play: Here are the five hottest Minnesota baby names for 2024, ranked in order of popularity:
- π¦ Boys: Liam, Henry, Theodore, Oliver, Noah.
- π§ Girls: Charlotte, Evelyn, Olivia, Emma, Amelia.

- That list includes Arabic names common in the East African community (Abdullahi, Isra) and several that can be of Germanic origin (Greta, Etta).
- Crosby also made the cut for "most Minnesota" names, perhaps signaling that parents here are turning to local places (or beloved folk musicians!) when deciding what to call their kids.
Zoom out: Minnesota's top five largely mirrors the national trends, which saw Liam and Olivia maintaining the No. 1 spots for a fifth consecutive year.
