Where to celebrate Margarita Monday

Today is Cinco de Mayo — which is not Mexican Independence Day, but is a celebration of Mexican American culture.

🍹 The intrigue: Many of the bigger public festivals took place last weekend — but fortunately this year, Cinco de Mayo also coincides with another important weekly holiday: Margarita Monday.

• Many local restaurants observe it, including Boca Chica, Los Ocampo, and Taberna Street Tacos — and plenty more spots also also offer regular happy hour marg specials.

🇲🇽 Zoom out: There are still plenty of ways to observe the holiday itself.

• LatinoLEAD's Fiesta y Mercadito in the North Loop from 1-6pm will feature drinks, vendors and a salsa class — all while honoring "the true story of the Battle of Puebla." RSVP requested.
• Pajarito in Edina plans live music and El Burrito Mercado in St. Paul will have a DJ on the patio.
• Insight Brewing in Northeast will offer specials on pints of its seasonal Mexican lager, "Limes are Extra," this afternoon.

🌼 What's next: The combo Cinco de Mayo/Mother's Day festival on Lake Street in Minneapolis is scheduled for Sunday.
