Restaurant roundup: Owamni starts brunch and El Sazon expands

Chef Sean Sherman's NATIFS nonprofit has purchased the former Seward Co-op Creamery building to serve as its headquarters and the home of Owamni's new Indigenous barbecue restaurant.

• ŠHOTÁ Indigenous BBQ by Owamni is expected to open for counter service in 2025, per a release.

El Sazon, the acclaimed Latin restaurant that gained attention for its elevated tasting dinners held inside an Eagan BP gas station, is opening a new concept in Stillwater January 21.

• Xelas by El Sazon will serve Mayan cuisine inspired by chef Cristian De Leon's Guatemalan and Mexican heritage, per a release. It's open for reservations now.

A new concept by egg sandwich restaurant Eggflip will fill the spot left by Bebe Zito in food hall Malcolm Yards by mid-January.

• Eggflip/Sushiflip will serve Korean-inspired, egg-centric dishes that include bowls, burritos and sandwiches, according to a release.

Dinkytown is getting two new restaurants. Egg sandwich restaurant Egg on a Roll just opened for breakfast and lunch on 4th Street SE, while Indian fusion pizza joint Pizza Karma is expected to debut around the corner in late spring or early summer, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
