Bargain Bites: Lynette's new happy hour

Dig in: The bar was pretty busy when I stopped by with a friend on a recent Friday.

• We each ordered a glass of house wine ($8) and split the hummus with African chili crisp and pita ($7). It was super tasty and the right size for tiding two people over until dinner.

🍔 The big bargains: The happy hour burger is just $9 — compared to $14 once dinner service begins — and a generous serving of mussels is $11.

• Plus: All tap beers are $2 off.

The catch: These specials are only available 2pm to 4pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

• We weren't hungry enough for something as big as a burger at 3pm on a Friday, and the window is earlier than I'd usually seek out an alcoholic drink.

Yes, but: The hours are perfect for a pre- or post-movie beverage or bite for those going to a 1pm or 4pm show at the neighboring Riverview Theater.

The bottom line: While it's not the cheapest happy hour in town, Lynette's afternoon menu offers a decent discount off the regular prices.

• In all, I spent $20 meeting a friend for a quick drink, even after tax and tip.
