Target's new TV ad Santa is "weirdly hot"

That's the aesthetic of Kris K., the new "weirdly hot" star of Target's holiday ads, a shopper says in one of the TV spots.

The big picture: Hot Santa is part of Target's new holiday marketing campaign that leans into shopping being fun, as opposed to transactional.

They were made by Target's longstanding agency: Mythology of New York City.

Yes., but: This holiday season might not be all fun for the Minneapolis based retailer.

What we're watching: What, if anything, Target says about potential tariffs proposed by President-elect Trump when it reports earnings on Wednesday morning.

Some analysts say Target would be more exposed to the tariffs than rival Walmart, because the Minneapolis-based retailer's revenue is more dependent on imported goods, versus its grocery-heavy competitor.
