The first phase of Minneapolis' newest park opened Wednesday along the Mississippi Riverfront just north of Boom Island and Plymouth Avenue.
Why it matters: Graco Park is the city's latest effort to give North and Northeast Minneapolis residents access to waterfront like those in South and Southwest enjoy, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board superintendent Al Bangoura said in a news release.
Details: The first phase of the nine-acre park includes new trails, walkways, a river landing, public art, gathering spaces and new trees and native plantings.
A 4,000-square-foot park building will open in 2025.
