Ground breaking for North Minneapolis riverfront park

A 20-acre North Minneapolis riverfront park — depicted in the foreground of the above rendering — is now under construction.

Local, regional, and state officials on Saturday celebrated the park's groundbreaking as well as the completion of infrastructure work for the broader Upper Harbor Terminal project, which is slated to eventually bring new housing, commercial space, and a First Avenue amphitheater, among other amenities.

Zoom in: The park will have a five-acre plaza and lawn area and a mile of bike and pedestrian trails, according to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
