Sea Salt plans to open a new sandwich shop at Minnehaha Falls in May.
Why it matters: The expansion, dubbed The Sandwich Room at Sea Salt, adds options and capacity to the city's most popular park eatery.
What to expect: Cold sandwiches and a rotating menu of other grab-and-go foods, per neighborhood news outlet Longfellow Whatever, which first reported the news.
Longtime Sea Salt manager Kait Ziemer-Davis told the publication that the idea is to give park goers "simple and flavorful" options for when they don't have time or interest in sitting and waiting for a meal.
Plus: They're adding a beer counter with a dozen taps next to the sandwich window.
Both will be located inside the park pavilion that houses the original Sa Salt seafood restaurant.
What they're saying: A spokesperson for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board confirmed to Axios that the expansion was approved by commissioners as part of Sea Salt's contract renewal.
Restaurant managers have not yet responded to Axios' request for more details.
What's next: Sea Salt opens for the season on April 19, per Longfellow Whatever.
