Connie Chan concedes San Francisco congressional race

• The Associated Press had not called the race for Wiener as of 8pm Wednesday. He led Chan 55.5% to 44.5%, or 97,876 votes to 78,594, with an estimated 57% of votes counted.

Driving the news: While Chan expects the race to tighten as more ballots are counted, she acknowledged in a statement Wednesday she no longer sees a path to victory.

• "I congratulate Scott Wiener on his election and wish him success in serving San Francisco," Chan said.
• Chan, who Pelosi endorsed, thanked her supporters and vowed to continue organizing around affordability, immigrant rights and workers' issues.
• "This election has ended, but our movement and our commitment to one another carries forward," she added.

Wiener thanked Chan for a hard-fought campaign and said he's ready to tackle housing, health care, transit and other issues at the national level.

• "I'm deeply grateful for the trust voters have placed in me and I'm ready to get to work for you," he said in a statement. "It's time to deliver a better tomorrow for our city and our country."
