For the first time in more than two decades, San Francisco will host Major League Baseball's 2028 All-Star Game at Oracle Park.
State of play: The game will return for the first time since 2007, bringing the event to the city for the fourth time along with a week full of activities, including the Home Run Derby, Futures Game and MLB Draft.
What they're saying: Mayor Lurie last week cast the announcement as another sign of San Francisco's momentum as a destination for major events.
The city has hosted the Super Bowl, World Cup and NBA All-Star Weekend, while Vogue World is slated to come next year.
"These major events bring visitors, support our local restaurants and bars, and continue to drive our recovery," Lurie said in a statement.
