The Romanesque stone building has endured more than its share of setbacks. It was damaged by the 1906 earthquake, gutted by a fire in 1974 and spent years undergoing restoration before reopening in the mid-1980s.
🎨 More than a century later, the landmark serves as San Francisco's largest public community arts center, hosting classes in everything from ceramics and jewelry making to drawing and painting.
