We are, after all, known to have more dogs than kids — which is how you end up with Dogfest, where 12,000 people gather for the city's annual showcase of its cutest, quirkiest and brashest dogs.
The latest: Tomorrow's event doubles as a fundraiser for McKinley Elementary, helping fund visual arts, literary and science programs for 275 children.
What to expect: Hundreds of dogswill compete in six different contests, including best costume, best trick, best lap dog, best coat, best mutt and best in show — dubbed as "openly corrupt" since any dog owner can pay their way into the final.
You're basically buying your dog a shot at the spotlight, all in the name of the greater good.
Stick around for the dog show, silent auction, live brass band, kids games, food trucks and all the treats your dog desires.
