I recently visitedHeyma Yemeni Coffee, which opened its first San Francisco location in SoMa last year.
Yemen is believedto be the first place where coffee was commercially roasted and traded, and Heyma is one of several cafes cultivating that history for the Bay Area.
The vibe: The space itself is beautifully ornate, with cozy corners for those seeking more privacy.
What to try: The saffron milk cake.
Similar to a tres leches cake, it was deliciously moist and airy, with floral notes accompanying every bite, and perfectly paired with the cardamom and cinnamon-infused Heyma latte.
💭 My thought bubble: I can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu, including their Dubai latte and pistachio cheesecake.
