The San Francisco 49ers are advancing to their next playoff match after beating the defending Super Bowl champions in a nail-biting game yesterday.
Driving the news: The wild card game against the Philadelphia Eagles ended with the Niners winning 23-19, to the disbelief of many (including myself, if I'm gonna be honest).
Led by quarterback Brock Purdy, the Niners trailed by three points by the start of the second half, but managed to turn it around with strong performances from wide receiver Jauan Jennings and running back Christian McCaffrey.
Yes, but: Tight end George Kittle was carted off the field after suffering an Achilles tendon injury, leaving the team another player down.
What's next: The Niners will travel to Seattle to face off against the Seahawks, the No. 1 seed, for the divisional round. (San Francisco won their first game against Seattle but lost the second.)
The victor will advance to the NFC championship, which will determine who plays in the Super Bowl.
