Your guide to NWSL championship weekend in San José

• It will also offer a test run for next year's Super Bowl and World Cup matches at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

What to expect: The match between the Washington Spirit and Gotham FC will kick off at 5pm Saturday at San José's PayPal Park.

• Prior to the game, NWSL will hold a fan fest from noon to 4pm at The Lot at Creekside in San José, featuring interactive games, sponsor activations, music and food. A free shuttle service will be available to and from PayPal Park.
• The third annual NWSL Skills Challenge will take place 5pm Friday at San José State University's Spartan Soccer Complex. Two teams comprising NWSL stars — including Bay FC's Racheal Kundananji — will compete in a series of contests in a bid to win $30,000.

The intrigue: Soccer stars will also make appearances at a number of local venues.

• Kelley O'Hara will do a live taping of her podcast "Sports Are Fun!" on Thursday at Corinthian Grand Ballroom, featuring a look back at the year in women's sports with surprise guests. Doors open at 4:30pm.
• Julie Foudy, Abby Wambach and Ali Riley will be available for meet-and-greet sessions at Ally House in San José on Friday. Saturday will feature Bay FC's Caprice Dydasco and Jordan Silkowitz, as well as Tobin Heath and Christen Press.

Zoom out: Bay FC finished their second season at No. 13 out of NWSL's 14 teams. The club struggled to find its footing amid several leadership turnovers, including the exit of CEO Brady Stewart.

• Bay FC broke ground on new training facilities at Treasure Island in September. The team is expected to move into the center once it's finished.
