After a 12-year stint in Arizona, artist Julio César Morales has returned to San Francisco with an exhibit probing American identity through the lens of migration and labor.
State of play: The centerpiece is an immersive sound installation called "My America Is Not Your America," created in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Sound.
Alongside the installation are eight new watercolors from Morales' "Gemelos" (twins) series. They depict two people entangled in confined spaces, portraying the perilous journey of migration.
If you go: The exhibit is open until Nov. 1 at Gallery Wendi Norris at 436 Jackson St.
