👋 Hello, Nadia here. Yesterday marked the end of a successful three-day retreat in Washington, D.C., where I got to meet Axios colleagues from around the country.
It was inspiring to speak to so many talented reporters who are passionate about their cities and committed to one mission: helping you get smarter, faster.
The latest: That being said, I figured it's a good time to reintroduce who we are and why we're here.
The big picture: Axios is a national media company based in Arlington, Virginia.
- Jim VandeHei, Mike Allen and Roy Schwartz founded it eight years ago. VandeHei also cofounded Politico.
- Our national colleagues are experts in White House politics, Congress, business and tech.
- Axios San Francisco is one of 34 newsrooms that focuses on local news. We cover City Hall, restaurants, sports and all the things we love about our amazing city.
About us: I've lived in SF for more than a decade and cowrite the newsletter with Shawna Chen, a Bay Area native.
- We go to meetings, talk with leaders and read reports so you don't have to. We then curate the news into this email you can read in under 4 minutes.
- We launched this newsletter three years ago and have been so grateful to the thousands of you who read us every morning.
- We are pro-San Francisco, but aim to be politically neutral.
✌️ What's next: We love feedback. Reply with your questions and suggestions.
