A new legislative proposal from Supervisor Joel Engardio aims to reduce the timeline for homeowners repairing or replacing existing structures, such as stairs, balconies and back decks.
Right now, a homeowner has to get clearance from the Planning Department, which could take up to six months and cost up to $6,000.
Under Engardios bill, that wouldn't be necessary.
What to watch: Mayor Daniel Lurie also introduced a legislative package yesterday that cuts down the process for businesses and property owners.
The ordinances would eliminate permits for sidewalk tables and chairs as well as some fees for routine tenant improvements, among others.
