Bishop Mariann Budde to visit San Francisco's Grace Cathedral

Bishop Mariann Budde, who leads the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, will be delivering an address in San Francisco for Palm Sunday at Grace Cathedral.

Context: During President Trump's inaugural prayer service on Jan. 21, Budde implored the president to "have mercy" on undocumented immigrants, refugees and LGBTQ+ people.

Her comments came as many religious leaders denounced the president for immigration policies that they believe violate core Christian principles.
Following her address, Trump demanded an apology and accused her of not being "very good at her job."

The intrigue: Budde has described the confrontation with Trump as the moment that showed her how to be brave.

Her new book, "How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith," explores how bravery isn't a single act, but rather a daily choice made over a lifetime.
