Women hold about 39% of municipal offices in California, per a new analysis from the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.
- That's above the national average of 32% and a slight uptick from last year's share.
State of play: California now ranks seventh in the nation for gender parity at the local level.
- That includes city council members, mayors and other officials of cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000.
- The state came in eighth last year.
