Though we may still have a few more rainy days ahead, spring is upon us and that means warmer temperatures, longer days and plenty of colorful blooms await.
The latest: March in San Francisco is an ideal time to get outside and marvel at the beautiful display of seasonal flowers decorating the city and Bay Area.
Here are some of the best places to see some bursts of color:
🌺 Conservatory of Flowers: The Victorian-era greenhouse is home to thousands of aquatic, tropical and rare plants. Open Thursdays to Tuesdays from 10am– 4:30pm at 100 John F Kennedy Dr.
🌸 Japanese Tea Garden: Take in the views of the dazzling cherry blossoms while strolling through the garden's peaceful stone paths, koi pond, towering pagoda and traditional tea house. Open daily from 9am– 5pm at 75 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr.
🌷 Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden: Located under Golden Gate Park's historic Dutch Windmill, these gardens are adorned with vibrant rows of orange, red and yellow tulips that reach peak bloom every year around March. Open 24/7 at 1690 John F. Kennedy Dr.
🌿 San Francisco Botanical Garden: Head to the city's premiere destination for magnolias to see one of the country's most impressive collections of these pink, white and magenta flowers, featuring more than 100 different species and cultivars. Open daily from 7:30am– 6pm (starting this Sunday) at 1199 9th Ave.
🌼 UC Berkeley Botanical Garden: Across the Bay, you can discover 34 acres of more than 10,000 types of rare and endangered plants from all over the world. Check their calendar to see what's in bloom. Open daily 10am– 5pm except Tuesdays at 200 Centennial Dr. in Berkeley.
🌹Filoli Gardens: Making the trek down to the South Bay is worth the 45-minute car ride to witness the manicured rows of tulips, roses, wisterias, daffodils and camellias at this historic 16-acre estate. Open daily from 10am– 5pm at 86 Cañada Rd. in Woodside.
