NBA All-Star Game frenzy will descend upon the Bay Area this weekend, and there's a little bit of something for everyone.
Driving the news: While the league itself is hosting a slate of community events, many local businesses and organizations are also capitalizing on the momentum.
Thursday
🏀 NBA All-Star Alley: The NBA is partnering with local businesses to open All-Star themed pop-ups along Powell Street available through Sunday. Golden State will also host a storefront with appearances from Warriors and Valkyries players and DJ performances.
🎨 Live mural painting: Artist Rachel Wolfe-Goldsmith will paint an All-Star themed mural as part of a larger collaboration with Bay Area Mural Project.
✊ Hoops & Heritage: This showcase, a partnership between the NBA and the San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce, will highlight more than 30 diverse businesses from the local community.
⛹ Union Square activation: There will be Warriors Basketball Academy community clinics, basketball shooting contests, NBA player appearances and a custom basketball court designed by artist Victor Solomon.
👟 Foot Locker pop-up: The shoe company will offer exclusive releases and a LED court with daily challenges in a two-story space for fans. Expected athlete appearances include Anthony Edwards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
📺 Inside the NBA: American Express, the NBA's official card, will hold a show 3:30pm at Pier 48 with hosts Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny "The Jet" Smith and anchor Ernie Johnson. Chance the Rapper will headline.
Friday
🛝 NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service: More than 500 volunteers, including former NBA and WNBA players, will refurbish facilities at San Francisco's Bret Harte Elementary School and Oakland's East Oakland Pride Elementary School.
- Volunteers will also pack meals at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
🧒 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Day: Nearly 1,000 local elementary and middle school students will participate in basketball clinics held by former NBA and WNBA players with support from Nike.
😎 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game: This will take place at Oakland Arena at 7pm and feature a star-studded roster, including singer-songwriter Shaboozey, comedian Druski, Olympic track and field gold medalist Masai Russell and new Marvel star Danny Ramirez.
🍷 Sip By K-J: Kendall-Jackson, the NBA's first ever official wine partner, will host a pop-up wine bar at Pier 70 throughout the weekend. Fans will have the opportunity to taste K-J wines, meet players and try food and wine pairings.
🍕PUMA Pizzeria pop-up: PUMA Basketball is celebrating its recent collab with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a unique fan experience. Fans will be able to get a free slice before trying out an interactive basketball challenge against the Turtles' nemesis Krang.
🖥️ Google Pixel House: Create your own SLAM magazine cover, step into your favorite players' home and explore limited edition memorabilia through a Pixel-powered immersive experience.
Saturday
🎓 HBCU Classic: Morehouse College will face off against Tuskegee University at 2pm in Oakland Arena. The league and AT&T will each donate $100,000 to both historically Black colleges.
Sunday
🚢 Love and Basketball Cruise: City Cruises is hosting an afternoon on the water 1:30-4pm with live entertainment, a full bar and a chance to win NBA prizes. Tickets are $50.
🥳 All-Star Weekend After Party: Keep the vibes going at Alchemist Bar & Lounge, just a short walk from Chase Center and featuring music by DJ Seriation.
