A first-of-its-kind event featuring pickleball is coming to San Francisco.
The latest: Celebrities, top players and pro-athletes will compete in the Celebrity Pickleball Bash, a single-elimination doubles tournament held over two days aimed at continuing to grow the sport's popularity.
Participants include Mario Lopez, Jessie James Decker, Chris Mullin and others.
The tournament also includes live music and VIP meet-and-greets.
By the numbers: Nationally, pickleball participation has surged across all age groups, increasing by 223.5% in the past three years alone, according to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association.
What's next: The event in San Francisco kicks off a series of tournaments scheduled for later this year in cities like San Antonio, Las Vegas and New York.
