The SFMTA is rolling out new service changes to bus and light-rail lines starting Feb. 1 in response to an ongoing financial crisis.
Service cuts include:
- Morning cancellations of the 1X-California Express at 33rd Ave and Geary Blvd at 7:15am and 7:45am
- Reducing weekday frequency of the 38-Geary, 24-Divisadero and 43-Masonic from 10am to 1pm
- Shorter, one-car trains on the K-Ingleside and M-Ocean lines during the weekends
Other schedule changes:
- Service for the 30X Marina Express will be restored for two morning rush-hour routes from the Marina to downtown during weekdays. Bus leaves from Beach St and Divisadero St at 7:15am and 7:45am.
New stop adjustments:
- The 29 Sunset will now stop at the far side of the intersection at Sunset Blvd and the streets of Judah, Lawton, Noriega, Rivera, Taraval, Vicente and Ocean (southbound only).
- 8 Bayshore, 8BX Bayshore B Express, 91 Owl will no longer stop on the far side of Bayshore Blvd and Leland Ave. They will now stop just before the traffic light.
- 19 Polk will no longer stop inbound at Evans Ave and Napoleon St and the outbound Evans Ave and Selby St stop will move to the far side of the intersection.
- The L Owl, L Bus and 18 46th Avenue will no longer stop at Vicente St and 47th Ave.
- The 57 Parkmerced will have a new inbound stop at 20th Ave and Buckingham Way.
- The 30 Stockton "short," which provides extended service, will no longer stop at Caltrain from Van Ness Ave and North Point St. Its new final stop will be Union Square starting March 15.
What's next: Further cuts may be necessary to mitigate the agency's projected $322 million budget shortfall, which could lead to more service changes later this summer.
