San Francisco unveiled its new hydrogen-powered ferry on Friday.
Why it matters: MV Sea Change will provide free service along the waterfront and is the first hydrogen fuel-cell passenger ferry in the U.S., according to the California Air Resources Board.
The project is a public-private partnership that aims to bolster cleaner transportation through hydrogen fuel cells, which when used produce only water vapor as an emission.
What's next: The 75-passenger ferry will operate between Pier 41 and the Downtown SF Ferry Terminal for a six-month demonstration period.
