Your guide to SF's Lunar New Year activities this weekend

🐲 The parade formally starts at 5:15pm Saturday from Second and Market Streets, but you'll want to get there early (ideally by 4pm) if you purchased a ticket to sit in the bleachers.

• The parade route, approximately 1.3 miles over 2.5 hours, winds around Union Square and ends at Kearny Street and Columbus Avenue.
• Highlights include a 288-foot animated dragon puppet and 19 floats, led by grand marshal Awkwafina.
• You can stand behind the barricades anywhere along the route to watch, but event organizers strongly encourage taking public transit to get there.
• Weapons and drones are prohibited. No coolers, pets, selfie sticks or camera tripods are allowed in the bleacher sections.

🪭 The community street fair will run 10am-4:30pm Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday in Chinatown.

• You'll be able to browse over 120 booths and concessions and experience Chinese folk dancing, opera and drumming at the entertainment stage on Pacific Street.
• There will also be opportunities to take photos with the giant puppet and dragon from the parade.

🏮 The lantern festival, set to take place at Geneva Car Barn and Powerhouse 3-5pm Sunday, will serve as the finale.

• Programming includes traditional paper lanterns, cultural performances and activity stations like mahjong.
