Nothing says Happy National Coffee Day like "coffee is getting more expensive." But here were are, with the receipts.
The big picture: Coffee prices are rising faster than inflation in San Diego, statewide and in almost every other U.S. state over the last year, according to new Toast data shared with Axios.
It's one of among many commodities affected both by general inflation and the Trump administration's import tariffs.
By the numbers: The median cost of a regular hot coffee in San Diego hit $4.25 this past August, Toast says, up 8.1% from the same time last year.
Cold brew drinkers are paying $5.96 locally, up 4.1%.
But at least we've got it better than Los Angeles ($4.99) and San Francisco ($4.92) when it comes to the cost of a hot cup of joe.
The median nationwide cost of a regular coffee hit $3.52 in August.
