Atkins ramps up campaign in wide-open governor's race

Driving the news: Atkins celebrated the opening of her San Diego campaign office Saturday, along with supporters Rep. Scott Peters, state Sen. Steve Padilla, Assemblymember Chris Ward, Mayor Todd Gloria and Supervisor Paloma Aguirre.

• Porter gained an early edge by outraising the field between March and June, as Politico reported, but the Atkins campaign in an internal memo argued she has more resources than most of her opponents, despite raising less in the most recent reporting period.
